Parrot Clay Licks
The day begins early with a visit to the parrot clay licks, located about an hour and a half from the lodge. Arriving just before the morning activity, you’ll have the chance to observe five species, including parrots, parakeets, and macaws. Afterward, a trail leads to the Kichwa Interpretation Center “Kuri Muyu,” run by local women, offering insights into Kichwa culture and opportunities to purchase local handicrafts. The excursion continues to a second parrot and parakeet clay lick through the Terra Firme Forest, providing glimpses of various bird and mammal species. After lunch, guests return to the lodge via the main stream, increasing opportunities for wildlife observation. The day concludes with dinner at the lodge.
Sunrise Adventure
After a delightful breakfast, lodge guests embark on an exhilarating sunrise hike to the observation tower in the Napo River area. Standing 36 meters high and just 30 minutes from the lodge, this tower offers a unique view of the forest canopy, allowing you to observe species like tanagers, macaws, toucans, and monkeys. This experience provides a privileged perspective of wildlife. After lunch, enjoy a hike through the terra firme forest, where you may encounter the elusive golden-mantled tamarin monkeys. Later, explore the lake and streams by canoe, hoping to spot giant otters. The lodge also features a second observation tower above the restaurant, offering stunning views of the lagoon. End the day with dinner and a night walk to observe insects, reptiles, amphibians, and even nocturnal monkeys.
Jungle Exploration
This morning, venture into trails winding through terra firme and swamp forests, seeking out wildlife such as golden-mantled tamarins, capuchin monkeys, and sloths. After the hike, return to the eco-lodge for a delightful lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, glide through streams in rowing canoes, providing more opportunities to spot unique wildlife. The lodge offers an exceptional Amazonian experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in regional biodiversity from the comfort of its facilities.
Adventure at Pañacocha Lake
Today, we venture to Pañacocha Lake, located across the Napo River, promising a day filled with nature exploration and wildlife encounters, including the thrilling possibility of spotting pink dolphins. Setting off from the lodge in the morning, we navigate a scenic creek for approximately 90 minutes, admiring diverse wildlife along the way. Upon arrival, guests receive an orientation about the area and a packed lunch to enjoy either in a canoe or at a nearby lodge. Conditions permitting, there’s an opportunity to swim in the lake. The Pañacocha region offers sightings of various species, including macaws, sloths, squirrel monkeys, black-mantled titi monkeys, capuchin monkeys, and anacondas. The return to the lodge is scheduled for the afternoon.
