Arrival in Coca – Lodge
Your adventure begins with a flight from Quito to Coca, followed by a short trip to the Napo River pier. From there, enjoy a motorized canoe ride along Ecuador’s longest Amazonian river, spotting ancient communities, local crops, tropical fruits, and a diverse array of birds. Upon arrival at the lodge, a welcome cocktail and introductory talk prepare you to explore the rainforest, where you’ll observe primates, endemic birds, and unique Amazon flora. At nightfall, a canoe excursion offers a chance to spot the rare black caiman.
Wildlife Exploration
Start the day by ascending a 36-meter observation tower to watch the sunrise over the Amazon canopy. Then, explore the flooded forest by canoe, where you may spot colorful birds like parrots and macaws, along with various monkey species. In the afternoon, relax at the lodge or on its scenic dock before taking a primary forest walk to discover medicinal plants and ancient trees such as cedar and mahogany. As night descends, a guided walk reveals the hidden world of insects, frogs, and other Amazonian creatures.
Wonders of Yasuní and Cultural Experience
In the morning, visit the famous “Parrot Clay Lick” in Yasuní National Park, where various parrot species consume clay as part of their diet. Explore Yasuní, the planet’s most biodiverse place, with centuries-old trees and unique wildlife. Later, visit the Sani Isla Community to learn about Kichwa culture, participate in an Amazonian cooking class, and have the opportunity to purchase local crafts, supporting the community’s economy. End the day with a stunning Amazon sunset at the lodge.
Return to Napo – Coca
After an early breakfast, enjoy a final canoe ride along the Napo River with the sounds of the awakening jungle, before heading to the airport for your return flight to Quito.
