- Day 3

Day 1
Our Amazon adventure begins at the Arajuno Bridge, where we’ll board a motorized canoe for a 20-minute ride upriver through the lush tropical forest to Itamandi EcoLodge.
As we travel along the winding river, which twists and turns like a giant snake through the jungle, you’ll be captivated by the magic and beauty of the Amazon rainforest—a vital lifeline often referred to as the heart of Pacha Mama (Mother Earth).
Upon arrival at the Itamandi EcoLodge dock, our friendly staff will greet you with a warm welcome. You’ll then enjoy a refreshing tropical snack in the lounge area while receiving a brief orientation from one of our naturalist guides. This session will provide essential information about your stay and the activities planned, followed by a delicious lunch.
In the evening, prepare for an exciting nighttime excursion into the jungle. Armed with a flashlight and camera, you’ll have the chance to hear and capture the sounds of nocturnal wildlife, including fishing bats, owls, insects, tarantulas, toads, frogs, and perhaps even snakes. If the skies are clear, you may also marvel at a breathtaking display of stars above the canopy.

Day 2
After breakfast, we’ll set out on a guided hike through both primary and secondary forests, an activity that lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. This immersive experience offers a glimpse into the diverse ecosystems and unique flora and fauna of the Amazon.
In the afternoon, we’ll immerse ourselves in the rich culture of the region with a visit to an Amazonian Kichwa community. Here, you’ll learn about their traditional way of life and how they interact harmoniously with the jungle. This encounter reveals a side of the Amazon that maps cannot show—the daily lives of its people.
During the visit, you’ll participate in preparing “chicha,” a fermented yuca drink that plays a central role in their celebrations and daily life. You’ll also sample traditional dishes and witness a lively cultural dance performed by the community. There will be time to purchase handmade crafts, providing valuable support to the indigenous artisans and their families.

Day 3
Early in the morning, we’ll take a 15-minute canoe ride upriver to the Parrot Saladero, a unique site where parrots and parakeets gather to consume mineral-rich clay that aids in their digestion of fruits and seeds. Watch as hundreds of colorful birds descend from the treetops to feast on the clay wall. Binoculars are highly recommended to fully appreciate this incredible natural spectacle before concluding your Amazon journey.
