DAY 1.- SUNDAY: QUITO – COCA – NAPO RIVER

Our journey kicks off in Quito, Ecuador’s vibrant capital. From there, we’ll take a short 30-minute flight to Coca, the gateway to the Amazon. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer to the dock and board a motorized canoe for a scenic 90-minute ride along the river, soaking in the breathtaking beauty of the Amazon rainforest. Our destination? The Anakonda Amazon Cruise, where we’ll be greeted with a warm welcome aboard.

Once settled, our expert local naturalist guides will provide an engaging introduction to the wonders of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Afterward, guests can explore the luxurious amenities of the cruise ship while marveling at the lush rainforest scenery as we sail along the Napo River. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a delightful dinner, followed by an exciting nighttime forest walk. Under the cover of darkness, we’ll listen to the symphony of sounds unique to the rainforest and spot fascinating nocturnal wildlife, setting the tone for an unforgettable adventure.

DAY 3.- TUESDAY: PARROT CLAY LICKS AND AMAZON COMMUNITIES

Our day begins early as we board motorized canoes to explore one of the most awe-inspiring spectacles of the Western Amazon—the legendary parrot clay licks. This mineral-rich area attracts hundreds of vibrant parrots, parakeets, and other Amazonian bird species that gather here daily. They flock to the clay to feed on its essential minerals, which aid their digestion and overall health. Watching these colorful birds in action is a truly unforgettable experience and a photographer’s dream.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit a Kichwa women’s community project, where we’ll gain insight into the traditional way of life along the Napo River. Here, we’ll learn about their ancestral culture, customs, and the strong sense of community that defines their way of life. Guests will have the opportunity to support the local economy by purchasing handmade crafts, traditional products, and unique souvenirs crafted by the women. Additionally, we’ll participate in the Charapas Turtle Conservation initiative, a meaningful effort supported by the community and our cruise to protect this endangered species.

This day offers a perfect blend of wildlife observation and cultural immersion, allowing us to connect deeply with both the natural wonders and the people of the Amazon.

DAY 4.- WEDNESDAY: INDILLAMA AND NAPO RIVERS, THE NORTH SIDE OF YASUNI NATIONAL PARK

The day begins with a peaceful kayaking excursion along the Indillama River, a serene tributary of the Napo River that serves as a gateway to the breathtaking Yasuni National Park. Gliding silently through the water in our comfortable and easy-to-maneuver kayaks offers the perfect opportunity to observe the park’s incredible wildlife up close. For those who prefer, motorized canoes are also available to venture deeper into the rainforest in search of even more fascinating creatures.

After a day filled with adventure and discovery, guests can retreat to the Anakonda’s observation deck to marvel at the Amazon’s nighttime splendor. Under a blanket of stars, the sights and sounds of the rainforest create an enchanting atmosphere, perfect for reflection and relaxation.

For the more adventurous, a night walk through the jungle awaits. Armed with flashlights, we’ll explore the forest floor in search of nocturnal wildlife, from elusive frogs and insects to mysterious mammals that only emerge after dark. This immersive experience reveals a hidden side of the Amazon, alive with activity under the cover of night.

DAY 5.- THURSDAY: HOME OF THE LEGENDARY PINK DOLPHIN AND THE SECOYA COMMUNITY

 Our day begins with an exploration of the lower stretches of the Napo River, where we’ll encounter a rich variety of birdlife. Keep your eyes peeled for majestic eagles, vibrant oropendolas, and the iconic woodpeckers that call this area home. The morning offers a serene opportunity to appreciate the beauty and diversity of the Amazon’s avian inhabitants.

In the afternoon, we’ll venture into Yasuní National Park, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth and a sanctuary for countless species. This pristine wilderness is also home to the legendary pink river dolphin, a symbol of mystery and grace in the Amazon. During our visit, we’ll have the unique chance to participate in our pink dolphin conservation program, a collaborative effort with the Martinica community in the Cocaya area. This initiative ensures these gentle creatures have a safe habitat where they can thrive, free from the threat of hunting.

Later, we’ll connect with the Secoya people, a minority indigenous group with a rich ancestral culture. They will welcome us into their world and share their traditions, including a hands-on demonstration of how to prepare traditional cassava bread—a staple food in their community. This immersive experience highlights the deep connection between the Secoya people and their environment, offering a glimpse into their way of life and the importance of preserving their cultural heritage.

This immersive experience allows us to connect directly with members of the local community, gaining firsthand insight into their daily lives, traditions, and the deep bond they share with the river and rainforest. It’s a rare opportunity to learn about their unique way of life and the customs that have been passed down through generations.

Back aboard the Anakonda, we’ll dive into a delightful cooking class led by our expert chef. Guests will discover the secrets behind preparing exquisite traditional Ecuadorian dishes, using fresh, local ingredients that capture the flavors of the Amazon. For those eager to engage further, there will also be a chance to try your hand at crafting traditional handicrafts, adding a creative touch to the day’s activities.

As we ascend, guests will be treated to a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the Amazon rainforest canopy. From this vantage point, you’ll witness the vast expanse of treetops stretching endlessly into the horizon—a humbling reminder of the sheer scale and beauty of the Amazon. This is the perfect moment to pause, reflect, and take in the awe-inspiring majesty of one of the world’s most vital ecosystems.

In the afternoon, we’ll delve into the heart of the primary forest on a guided exploration. Here, we’ll encounter a fascinating array of plant and wildlife species that are unique to this pristine ecosystem. Keep your eyes peeled for the extraordinary hoatzin, a bird unlike any other, known locally as the “stinkbird” due to its unusual digestive process. With its prehistoric appearance and quirky behavior, the hoatzin is a true icon of the Amazon and a highlight for many visitors.

This day offers a blend of thrilling heights and immersive ground-level discovery, allowing you to experience the Amazon from multiple perspectives—whether gazing out over the canopy or exploring the rich biodiversity beneath it. DAY 8.- SUNDAY: RETURN

Our unforgettable Amazon adventure draws to a close today, but not before one last scenic ride. We’ll begin our morning by disembarking the Anakonda Amazon Cruise at Puerto Providencia, where we’ll bid farewell to the vessel that has been our home for the past week. From there, we’ll board a motorized canoe for a peaceful ride back to the city of Coca, retracing our path along the winding rivers and soaking in the lush rainforest views one final time.

As we arrive in Coca, we’ll take a moment to reflect on the incredible experiences we’ve shared over the past eight days—moments filled with awe-inspiring wildlife, immersive cultural encounters, and the raw beauty of the Amazon rainforest. Though our journey ends here, the memories and connections made during this voyage will stay with us forever.

From Coca, we’ll prepare for our flight back to Quito, carrying with us the spirit of the Amazon and a deeper appreciation for one of the planet’s most extraordinary ecosystems.
