The journey begins at “El Puente del Cuyabeno” at 10:30 am. This site is the main entrance to the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve and the last stop in civilization; nearby, we will take you to have breakfast. Once ready, we will head out in a motorized canoe, traveling down the Cuyabeno River for approximately 2 hours and half until we reach Nicky Amazon Lodge, a good chance to watch some species of herons, king fishers, anis, macaws, oropendolas, caciques, vultures, arazaris and others.  Along the way, we will observe the local flora and fauna, and with luck, we may see the first species of monkeys and birds. 

Upon arrival at Nicky Lodge, you will be greeted with a Welcome Cocktail, room assignments, and time to rest and/or enjoy the surroundings. Later, we will serve a delicious lunch. Once ready, we will embark on our first adventure to Laguna Grande, which is 30 minutes from Nicky Lodge. We will take a motorized canoe tour to recognize the vegetation and learn about the ‘Igapó’, the flooded forest ecosystem. Afterwards, you can swim in the calm waters while enjoying the wonderful sunset in the Amazon region. We will continue our adventure observing the nocturnal fauna of the area, such as bats and caimans. Finally, we will return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, our bilingual guide will inform you about the activities for the following days.

In the morning, early activity, then return to the lodge for breakfast. Afterward, we will have an excursion, either by canoe or hiking, exploring a part of the jungle. Our guide will provide information on the medicinal uses of plants, as utilized by native cultures for generations. After the activity, we will return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, we will explore the Cuyabeno River by canoe, enjoying the landscape and listening to the sounds of the jungle while looking for exotic local species. Dinner.

Early in the morning, we will take a short canoe excursion to observe various wildlife. After breakfast, you will have time to pack your belongings for the return. Check-out is at 8:30 am. We will provide a box lunch for the trip back to El Puente de Cuyabeno, arriving around 10:30 am, where a private (tourist) bus will be waiting to take you back to Quito.
