Arrival in El Coca and Immersion into the Amazon

Your journey begins with assistance at Quito International Airport, ensuring a smooth check-in process. Following a brief 30-minute flight to El Coca, you’ll travel by private vehicle to the Napo River pier. There, a two-hour motorized canoe ride down the river will officially mark the start of your extraordinary Amazon adventure.
Upon completing the motorized journey, you’ll transition to a paddle canoe for the final approach to the lodge. Upon arrival, a refreshing welcome drink and an introduction to your stay await you.
Introduction to the Rainforest:
A specialized guide will provide an overview of the Amazon rainforest and the lodge’s operations. This will be followed by a guided walk to observe fascinating trees and wildlife. In the evening, embark on a canoe ride on Garza Cocha lagoon, offering opportunities to spot caimans, owls, and enjoy breathtaking stargazing.
Observation Tower and Mandi Cocha Exploration
Begin your day with an early breakfast, followed by a short 15-minute walk to a breathtaking 120-foot observation tower. From this vantage point, you can admire vibrant birds and possibly catch glimpses of monkeys moving through the canopy.
Next, journey to Mandi Cocha, a serene lake nestled within the flooded forest and home to the elusive giant otters.
After enjoying lunch back at the lodge, venture to Garza Cocha Lake, known for its picturesque scenery and diverse wildlife. Here, you may encounter the peculiar hoatzin and several monkey species, especially during the lively afternoon hours.
Night Walk:
As darkness falls, embark on a guided night walk. With a flashlight in hand, you’ll have the chance to observe frogs, reptiles, and nocturnal mammals, experiencing the Amazon’s unique nightlife.
Parrot Clay Lick and Pilchi Community Visit
Start the day with an early breakfast before heading out on a canoe ride to a parrot clay lick. This remarkable site attracts hundreds of parrots and parakeets, which gather to consume the mineral-rich soil essential to their diet.
Next, visit the Pilchi indigenous community to gain insight into their ancestral traditions. Learn about their customs, traditional clothing, cooking techniques, and the vital role education plays in their way of life.
Afternoon Adventure:
Take a hike along the Coto Trail, which winds through the rainforest to Garza Cocha Lake. Along the way, you’ll encounter medicinal plants and learn about their uses. As the day winds down, enjoy a canoe ride back to the lodge, offering another opportunity to spot caimans and other nocturnal wildlife.
Day 4: Departure to El Coca
