This lodge offers travelers an authentic immersion in Achuar culture, directly supporting local communities. Kapawi Ecolodge spans a 2,500-hectare ecotourism reserve, allowing visitors to explore the rich biodiversity of the region. Additionally, it operates in collaboration with three Indigenous communities: Kapawi, Suwa, and Kusutkau, ensuring that ecotourism benefits these communities directly.
Secretos de Garzacocha y Lagartococha
Garzacocha & Lagartococha is a remote and biodiverse area located in the Ecuadorian Amazon. It is a pristine region known for its abundant wildlife, including caimans, giant otters, monkeys, and countless bird species. The name “Lagartococha” translates to “Lagoon of Lizards,” reflecting the area’s natural connection to water and its role as a habitat for reptiles and aquatic species.

Kapawi Ecolodge, inaugurado en 1996, es pionero del ecoturismo comunitario en la Amazonía ecuatoriana. Ubicado en una zona remota, se puede acceder en un vuelo de 50 minutos desde la ciudad de Shell, a unas 4-5 horas en coche de Quito. Este lodge ofrece a los viajeros una auténtica inmersión en la cultura achuar, apoyando directamente a las comunidades locales. Kapawi Ecolodge abarca una reserva ecoturística de 2500 hectáreas, lo que permite a los visitantes explorar la rica biodiversidad de la región. Además, opera en colaboración con tres comunidades indígenas: Kapawi, Suwa y Kusutkau, garantizando así que el ecoturismo beneficie directamente a estas comunidades.
Comunidad Sápara
The Sapara community is an indigenous group native to the Amazon rainforest, primarily residing in eastern Ecuador. Recognized for their rich cultural heritage and unique language, the Zápara people are one of the most ancient ethnic groups in the region. However, their population is small, with only a few hundred members remaining, making their culture and language critically endangered.
